Generally Accepted Standards of Practices, Protocols,
Guidelines & Minimum Practice Requirements
For California Licensed Community Midwivesfor Karen & Tosi original MBC October 8th proposal for SB 1950
This version of standards, guidelines and minimum practice requirement is a stand-alone document specifically developed for California Licensed Midwives. While it is similar in many ways to the ACCM's Generally Accepted Practices, it is also distinctly different.
The ACCM standards and guidelines were originally complied in 1998 for LMs, CPMs and CNMs who were members of the ACCM group policy for professional liability insurance. Since that time several more states have passed direct-entry licensing laws and that has generated an enlarged pool of state statues, regulations and professional association guideline to draw upon.
In addition to these added resources, the California version is also specifically designed to reflect the legal and legislative realities of the Licensed Midwifery Practice Act of 1993 and its amendments.

Start by printing out the title page, the bibliography, LMPA amendment (SB1479), 1917 statutes, the table of contents and the index page for Section One. Then print the remainder of the first section.
For sections two and three, start with their index pages, then print the rest of those files and compile the finished hard copy in a 3-ring notebook for handy reference.
Comments and feedback about the document should be addressed to info@collegeofmidwives.org
